About the Refurbishments

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council has appointed Lovell Partnerships Limited to carry out refurbishment works in Badsey Road, Oldbury on the Lakes Blocks (Derwent House, Windermere House, Coniston House, Ullswater House, Rydale House and the Lion Farm shops), leading on an extensive residential refurbishment for Sandwell Council.

This exciting scheme will renovate the five existing residential blocks and add an additional floor to each building, to create 20 additional affordable two-bedroom flats for residents.

Throughout the project, our team will work closely with the council’s Think Local Regeneration and Economy Service to provide positive impact and a lasting legacy for the community.

The upgrades will also feature elements to improve energy efficiency such as rain screen cladding, and improvements to facilitate much-needed parking provision as well as creating a more aesthetically pleasing environment.

Also planned are new front and rear entrance canopies, two new lifts within each building, modification and extension of staircases to serve the additional floors, replacement windows, new pitched roofing and remedial structural works. As well as this, Lovell will deliver fire precaution works to communal areas throughout the building interiors.

“The scheme is a fantastic example of how we can work with councils to transform their existing buildings to improve the facilities for local people – especially when it comes to residential homes. Residents will benefit from new modern homes, with high-quality building upgrades included. We’re really pleased to have work underway at The Lakes, where will also be creating additional homes through extending up as well as refurbishing the buildings already in situ. We’re looking forward to seeing the scheme progress – and to seeing residents and the wider community benefiting from the work once completed.” Carl Yale, Regional Refurbishment Director at Lovell Partnerships
